Gladys Mae (Radman) Klein
WASHINGTON
Gladys Klein, beloved mother, wife, grand mother, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend to many, passed on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Her sons, Keith and Kevin, were at her side.
Her husband of 65 years, Bernard, who suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s, had visited her the day prior.
Born Gladys Mae Radman in 1929 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Sarah Radman, she was the second of five siblings, Hilda (now deceased), Saul, Daniel and Sheila.
Gladys’s immediate family also includes her son Keith’s wife Linda and grandchildren, Jessica and Michael, and her son Kevin’s wife Anne and their children Matthew and Sarah.
While attending West Virginia University she met Bernard, married, and settled in Point Marion, Pennsylvania.
She returned to West Virginia University after her sons were of age and got a degree in education and taught Home Economics for 26 years.
In 1992, they retired to Green Valley, Arizona where she became known for her unique pottery, beading, woven woolen handbags, painted vinyl floor mats, and knitted caps and scarves for the needy.
While in Arizona, and despite her deteriorating health, she was a devoted caregiver to Bernard.
In 2011 they moved to Kennewick, Washington to be near son Keith and get further assistance.
Despite Gladys’ commendable efforts, Bernard needed special care in 2013.
That separation was very hard for Gladys, but she valiantly persevered through a serious stroke and many further hospitalizations, communicating her love and concern for others until her final breaths.
Her family thanks all the friends, health professionals and care givers who helped her and her family these past months.
The family will schedule a Graveside Memorial Service in the summer of 2015.
Donations in honor of her life and in lieu of other tokens of sympathy to may be made to favorite charities, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ( http://www. cff.org/Tribute/gladys. klein ) or the Alzheimer’s Association ( http://www.alz.org )
