Dorothy Z. (Zelenski) Duran
Dorothy Z. (Zelenski) Duran, age 78, Hopwood, Pa., passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 in the Uniontown Hospital.
She was born Tuesday, February 11, 1936 in Fayette City, Pa., the daughter of Walter Zelenski and Mildred (Chumko) Zelenski.
Dorothy was a devoted Catholic and very active in Saint Anthony’s Friary in Uniontown, Pa.
She was a lifetime member of the Hopwood Garden Club. Gardening was passion with her, a creative, talented person with a flair for art.
Dorothy enjoyed staying in touch with her classmates at Belmar High School (Belle Vernon), Class of 1954.
She was predeceased by her parents; by her husband, Andrew Duran in 2007; and a brother, Walter Zelenski.
Surviving are her two children: Andrew Duran Jr. (Karen), Indianapolis, Indiana and Danielle Scherer (Michael) of Cranberry Township, Pa. one grandson, the love of her life, Walter Scherer; a sister, Patricia Maxson with whom she made her home; a brother, John Zelenski (Carol) of Belle Vernon, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Lenora Zelenski of Belle Vernon, Pa.; two nephews and one niece: Doug Vogel (Christina), Steven Zelenski (Marci), Cheryl Mattay (Adam); and very special friends: Vicky and Ted Sova of Hopwood, Sophia Vavrek Tim Chesler, Mike Tobal.
Friends will be received in DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, Pa., today from 5 to 7 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Wednesday, October 15, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father James W. Clark officiating.
Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, Pennsylvania.
