Hong Kong restaurant was evacuated Tuesday morning after a gas leak was discovered.

Fayette County 911 said the leak was reported around 9:23 a.m. Uniontown Shopping Center on Morgantown Road.

Columbia Gas shut off the gas to investigate. Uniontown Fire Department placed large fans in front of the restaurant’s front doors to ventilate the building.

Columbia Gas spokesman Scott Waitlevertch said a service line feeding the restaurant was discovered to have a leak.

He said neighboring businesses have been deemed safe and should be re-opened soon.

Waitlevertch said repairs at Hong Kong restaurant would not necessarily finished by noon, but the repairs would be completed later today.

“Everything has been made safe, they just need to repair the line,” he said.
