A Republic man accused of allegedly stabbing a man in a fight about a woman has waived all charges Tuesday to Fayette County Court.

Police allege that Robert John Perry, 53, got into a fight with Richard Thompson Jr., no address provided, around 2 a.m. Oct. 9 on the back porch at 119 S. Mount Vernon Ave., Uniontown. Police said the two men were allegedly fighting about Thompson’s girlfriend, Tina Murphy.

According to the criminal complaint, Perry allegedly stabbed Thompson several times in the chest and stomach area.

Police allege that after Perry stabbed Thompson, he ran into the South Mount Vernon residence, where he grabbed a sweatshirt and told Murphy, “I gotta leave. I messed your boyfriend up!”

The complaint said that soon after Perry left, Thompson was discovered injured and laying in the road. Police said Thompson was taken to an area hospital and Perry was arrested a short time later.

According to court documents, Perry was charged with attempted criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Perry’s bond was $150,000 and he remains in Fayette County Prison.

Perry’s preliminary hearing was Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.
