Larry D. Hughes

Larry D. Hughes, age 66, Brownsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in Mon Valley Hospital.

He was born on Monday, August 9, 1948 in Monessen, Pa., son of Reverend John Hughes and Theofa (Jefferies) Hughes.

Larry served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.

He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Brownsville, where he was ordained a Deacon and was a member of the choir. God graced him with a beautiful voice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, James Hughes, Jerry Hughes, Samuel Hughes, John Freeman Hughes, Floyd Hughes; four sisters, Thelma Bell, Rosalie Thompson, Ruth Hughes, Helen Barbour; a niece, Mildred Martin; and a nephew Calvin Hill

He leaves to cherish his loving memory three daughters: Kelli McGee of Pittsburgh, Pa., Lesley Hughes and Danielle Hughes both of Virginia; sisters: June Scott of Hiller, Pa., and Betty Sartor, Brownsville, Pa.; brothers: Joseph Hughes of Rochester, Pa., and Robert Hughes of Clairton, Pa.; six grand children; a very devoted friend, Bonnie Chiles-Mays of Monessen, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family and Friends will be received today. Sunday, September 7th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CANAAN BAPTIST CHURCH, 1302 Second Street, Brownsville, Pa.

Funeral Services will be held in the Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8th, 2014 with Reverend Andrew Dent officiating.

Interment will take place at Belle Vernon Cemetery.
