Thelma I. (Miller) Coughenour Grassi
Thelma I. (Miller) Coughenour Grassi, age 98, of State College, Pa., and formerly of Gilmore in Georges Township, Pa., died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 with her loving family by her side caring for her.
She was born Saturday March 4, 1916 in Brownfield Pennsylvania the daughter of Charles Miller and Katherine (Price) Miller.
Thelma was a member of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, Pa., where she was a former CCD Teacher, former member of The Confraternity of Christian Mothers and a former member of Saint Francis Paws.
She was employed as a Cosmetology Teacher at the Sanzi and Maison Frederick School prior to retirement.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her husbands, Robert Coughenour and Joseph Grassi; and siblings, Goldie McLaughlin, Ethel Keppen, Alice Garber, Gilbert Price, Joseph Miller and Irven Miller.
Surviving are her daughter, Dolores Sabarese, State College, Pa.; three grandchildren: Terry Sabarese and Stephen Sabarese both of Gilmore, Pa., and Jeffrey Sabarese of State College Pa.; sister, Catherine Gates of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters-in-law: Rosa Miller, Las Vegas, Nevada and Joann Grassi, Masontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday, September 8, 2014 until 1:00 p.m. when a Word Service will be held with Reverend Father Jaime Sullan Ozoa officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa
Vigil Service will be held in the funeral home today at 6:30 p.m.
