Police accuse Uniontown woman of robbery
Uniontown police arrested a pregnant woman accused of robbing a fast food restaurant and a convenience store Sunday on Morgantown Road.
Police allege that on Sunday, Amber Jane Reinhart, 31, of Uniontown robbed the McDonald’s restaurant and the BFS Foods Store, both on Morgantown Street, and attempted to rob the Walgreens Pharmacy on West Main Street.
Detective Donald M. Gmitter alleged that when Reinhart, was arrested Monday, she confessed to all three incidents.
Reinhart, who police said is six months pregnant, is charged with four counts each of robbery and simple assault, three counts of theft, two counts each of receiving stolen property and terroristic threats, and one count each of attempted robbery and attempted theft.
When Reinhart walked into BFS Foods around 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, she allegedly held her right hand in her sweat shirt pocket so that it would appear to be handgun to the store clerk, police alleged.
She reportedly told the clerk, “You know what I got. Give me the money.” After the clerk gave her the money, police said, she fled on foot on Morgantown Street.
Gmitter said Reinhart allegedly stole $100 from BFS.
A few hours later Reinhart walked into Walgreens, and allegedly told the store clerk that she had a gun before demanding money from the cash register, the complaint said. Though she threatened to harm the clerk, and police said he believed Reinhart had a gun, the clerk did not give her any money, and she fled, police said.
Moments later around 11:30 p.m. Reinhart entered McDonalds, walked up to the counter and demanded money from the cash register, the complaint said.
Gmitter alleged that Reinhart said to the clerk, “I have a gun and if you don’t give me the money in the register, I’m going to shoot you. Don’t yell or anything!”
The complaint said after the clerk gave Reinhart the money, she allegedly demanded more money from another cash register.
Gmitter said when the clerk told Reinhart that she couldn’t open that cash register, Reinhart ordered her to get the manager. The manager opened the register, but it was empty, the complaint said.
Police said when Reinhart saw there was no money in the register, she fled the restaurant.
Gmitter alleges Reinhart stole $74 from McDonalds.
During the course of the investigation, police reviewed surveillance tapes from the Sunoco station on Morgantown Street. Police said Reinhart walked into Sunoco, but when the store’s clerk told her take her sunglasses off, she left the store.
The complaint said police were able to make a positive identification of the vehicle Reinhart drove away in, and were able to track her to her apartment on Stewart Street in Uniontown, where they located the vehicle.
Gmitter alleged that Reinhart admitted to robbing McDonalds. When Reinhart was shown a photo from BFS Foods’ surveillance system, he said, she admitted to being the person in the photo. Gmitter alleged that she also admitted to attempting to rob Walgreens.
Reinhart’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Metros.
She is in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bond for the three cases.
