Ruth (Prechtl) Robertson Flaherty
Ruth R. (Prechtl) Robertson Flaherty, age 92, died Monday, September 15th, 2014 in Marquis Gardens Place Personal Care Home in Uniontown, Pennsylvania
She was born on Monday, December 12th, 1921 in Buffalo, New York the daughter of the now late Louise (Arnold) Prechtl and George Prechtl and George Robertson (step-father).
Ruth was a tireless homemaker raising five children as well as volunteering for many community causes and school events.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, traveling to her home in Lake Worth, Florida and spending time with her family.
She remained strong and kind through many physical ailments and great personal loss.
Her selflessness and compassion touched her family and many friends.
Ruth was blessed with a long and close relationship with her sister, Arline.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James D. Flaherty Sr. in 1998; her daughter, Judith Ruth Taylor; son-in-law Robert Taylor and grandson Ryan Taylor in 1976; and her brother, Donald Robertson in 1997.
She is survived by her sister Arline (Robertson) Clark of Port Vue, Pa.; her children: James D. (Susan) Flaherty Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Kevin (Patti Pomatto) Flaherty, Chicago Illinois Thomas Terrence (Paula) Flaherty of Uniontown, Pa., and Joyce Flaherty (Rob) Ritchey of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren: J. D. (Nancy) Flaherty III of Columbus, Ohio, Charles Hawthorne Flaherty of Tulum, Mexico, Mary Scott (B. J.) Pietrafese of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Thomas Flaherty of Chicago, Illinois, Matthew Paul Nesser of Pittsburgh, Pa., Robert Edward Ritchey and Daniel Flaherty Ritchey of Lexington, Kentucky, Rachel Kylie Ritchey and Ryan Michael Ritchey of Cincinnati, Ohio; great grandchildren: Aidan and Amira Flaherty of Columbus, Ohio, Rosalie and Biagio Pietrafese of Cleveland, Ohio; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a very special ‘Thank You’ to the staff and the residents of the Marquis Gardens Place in Uniontown, Pa., and also to the staff of Medi Home Hospice of Scottdale, Pa., for their devotion, love and support they gave to their mom and her family
