Helen Louise “Nana” (Koritko) Howard

Helen Louise (Koritko) Howard, age 93 years, of Uniontown, Pa., lovingly known as “Nana” entered eternal life Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from the Mount Macrina Manor Nursing Center.

Helen was born on Saturday, October 8, 1921 in Bitner, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of Michael Koritko and Mary (Trella) Koritko.

Helen was a consummate loving and nurturing wife, mother and homemaker.

Helen was the heart and nucleus of the Howard and Koritko families.

Possessing a true servant’s heart with a zest for life, she loved to cook, can foods, clean, socialize with family and friends, garden, dance, prayed the Rosary daily and played both bingo and the lottery to her heart’s content.

Helen possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor.

Throughout her life, Helen maintained a signature gift of a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.

Helen faithfully cared for family and friends.

A woman of great faith, Helen was a member of Saint George Maronite Catholic Church.

Helen was our devoted angel on earth that lived, laughed and loved unselfishly!

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Edward F. Howard Sr.; daughter, Rebecca Marinelli; granddaughter Beth Ann Nichols; seven sisters and two brothers.

Helen’s spiritual and Christian values will be sustained by her children: Shirley Ciciretti and husband William, Wickliffe, Ohio, Donna Thornsberry and husband Darrell of Brunswick, Ohio, Phillip and his wife Dr. Mabel Howard, Uniontown, Pa., Edward and wife Mary Howard, Uniontown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grand children; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff of Mount Macrina Manor, to Amedisys Hospice for their care, compassion and love, and to all those who helped in some way.

Friends will be received inthe THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and Wednesday, April 8, from 9 until 9:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Saint George Maronite Catholic Church, Six Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown.

Interment will follow in the Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.

Ghinnaz Service will be held in Funeral Home on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
