Dorothy Neal Dantzler, 71, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband at her side.

Dorothy was born in Mississippi to Mack Neal and Annie Mae (Short) Neal.

She attended Alcorn University in Mississippi where she met her husband Howard Dantzler, with whom she would have celebrated 51 years of marriage on April 28, 2015.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree and then her Master’s Degree from California University of Pennsylvania.

During her early years in college, Dorothy drove for the Freedom Riders during the Civil Rights Movement.

Dorothy was a teacher for the Uniontown School District for 26 years working at the High School as a reading specialist, LaFayette Elementary School and Ben Franklin Elementary.

She will always be remembered as an excellent teacher who was a great disciplinarian that all her students loved and respected. She was conscientious and had a great rapport with the parents of the elementary students she taught.

Dorothy was active in the church all of her life teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and being a Deaconness. She understood and appreciated the importance of a good education in and out of the classroom.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Mack Neal.

In addition to her husband Rev. Howard Dantzler, Sr., she is survived by her three sons: Howard ‘Chip’ Dantzler, Jr. of New York, New York, Henry ‘Pat’ Dantzler of Lubbock, Texas and Haile Dantzler York, Pa.; grandchildren: Laila Dantzler of Texas, Maddox Dantzler of Lancaster, Pa.

Also surviving are her sisters-in-laws that were her best friends Jean Neal and Laura Dantzler and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many of her friends as well.

Arrangements a r e entrusted to LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 E. Main Street, Uniontown, PA. There will be a viewing on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10 to 11 followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sandra McCain officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights.
