Accidental fire results in death of Redstone Twp. man

State police said a Redstone Township man died from injuries sustained from a fire Saturday morning at his home.

Police said first responders discovered Robert Joseph Maguire, 61, inside his residence at 589 Filbert Orient Road soon after the fire was reported around 12:35 a.m.

Police said after Maguire was taken away from the burning building, he was administered CPR. Police said Maquire was overcome by smoke, taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he died later Saturday.

State police fire marshal said the fire, which originated within the home’s laundry room, was determined to be accidental in nature.

Fayette County 911 said Republic Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by Footedale, New Salem, Tower Hill and Allison volunteer fire departments as well as Fayette EMS.
