Carmichaels man charged in sex assault case
A 19-year-old Carmichaels man faces 73 sex assault-related counts for his alleged sexual involvement with a 13-year-old Greene County girl.
Cumberland Township police said Brandon Michael Dawson admitted to having sexual contact with the girl between September and January.
Lt. John H. Beckus, in a complaint filed before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson, indicated when the girl and her parents talked to police in January, the teen initially told police that Dawson was 17.
The teen told police that she is pregnant, and said that she and Dawson broke up in January “because of the age difference and so that Dawson did not get into trouble,” according to the complaint.
Dawson came to the police station to be interviewed in February, according to the complaint, and admitted to having sexual contact with the girl several times.
Police also indicated in the complaint that the girl sent Dawson pictures of herself engaged in “prohibited sexual acts” through Facebook, and he sent her photos of his genitals through the same media.
“The Facebook messages between Dawson and the juvenile contained sexually explicit conversations and showed signs of the two being in a romantic relationship,” Beckus wrote in the complaint.
Dawson was charged with 12 counts each of statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault; 11 counts of unlawful contact with a minor; nine counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; four counts of child pornography and one count of disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor.
He is in Greene County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bond.
