A South Connellsville man accused of allegedly threatening to kill his family and chasing his wife with a knife because she didn’t pick him up at the police station after he was charged with public drunkenness waived all charges Tuesday to Fayette County Court.

Police allege that on Saturday, John Thomas Crayton threatened to kill his family and chased his wife, Kelley, with a kitchen knife out of their home at 418 Vine St.

Kelley Crayton told police that her husband had been arrested late Friday by Connellsville police, the complaint said.

Connellsville police said John Crayton was charged with public drunkenness after he was found in an intoxicated condition in the 100 block of South Arch Street.

When police called Kelley Crayton to retrieve her husband, she and his mother, Kathleen Crayton, declined, the complaint said. They told police they didn’t wish to pick him up or have him at home in an intoxicated condition, the complaint said.

Police allege that John Crayton was able to make home, where an alleged altercation ensued because he was upset no one came to get him from the police station.

When Kelley and Kathleen Crayton threatened to call Fayette County 911, he allegedly told his wife that she would be taking a “dirt nap,” the complaint said.

Police allege that John Crayton then threatened to kill his family. When he allegedly chased his wife out of their home with a butcher knife, she ran to a neighbor’s home, the complaint said.

John Crayton, 37, was charged with five counts of making terroristic threats, simple assault and five counts of harassment, according to court documents.

He remains free on bond.
