First Niagara transitions to new Uniontown location

2 min read

First Niagara Bank has transitioned its Uniontown branch office following a $1.5 million expansion of its drive-thru location.

As the lease at its 8,000-square-foot office at 2 W. Main St. expired at the end of June, the bank downsized operations by relocating its branch office to its already popular drive-thru location at 19 S. Beeson Blvd.

Renovation, performed by Rycon Construction Inc. of Pittsburgh, began in March to expand the 800-square-foot drive-in location to a 1,700-square-foot walk-in branch office with a full-service lobby, teller stations, service desks and an ATM.

First Niagara said combining the full-service branch with the drive-thru location, where transaction volume nearly tripled that of the branch office, will improve efficiency and service to customers.

All seven employees were retained in the move.

First Niagara came to Uniontown in 2009 when it acquired 57 National City Bank branches in western Pennsylvania, including the two Uniontown locations.

The branch office at 2 W. Main St. formerly occupied by First Niagara dates back to 1896 when the Second National Bank of Uniontown was established at the location. It would later serve as Gallatin National Bank, Integra National Bank and National City Bank branches, according to the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council.

The newly renovated facility on Beeson Boulevard was originally constructed in 1980, according to online Fayette County property records.

Office hours at the new branch office will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Drive-thru hours begin at 8:30 a.m. weekdays.
