A Merrittstown man has been charged with kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl.

Scott Tyler Barrett, 19, started texting the alleged victim around 2 a.m. Tuesday, asking her to get some things from his home, state police said.

The girl agreed, and when she went out onto the porch of her home, police alleged, Barrett grabbed her by the throat and attempted to put something over her head.

He then forced her into his car, threatening her when she fought back by allegedly saying “If you don’t come with me and be quiet, I’m going to kill you. I have a knife to your throat.”

The girl told police she was then taken to Barrett’s home in Allison where she again tried to fight him off as he kissed her and took her clothing off. The teen told police that after Barrett raped her, he took her cell phone and erased the call log and text messages. The girl told police Barrett became apologetic, repeatedly telling her he was sorry as he drove her home.

Once back at her house, the girl told her mother what had happened and they called police, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed with the charges.

The teen was treated at Uniontown Hospital. Her injuries included a bump on her head, marks on her neck consistent with being choked, red marks and bruising on her arms and a red mark on the small of her back.

Barrett, who was taken into custody at his home, faces charges of kidnapping, two counts of rape involving forcible compulsion, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, terroristic threats, stalking and simple assault. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Defino, who set the bond at $200,000 cash. He faces a preliminary hearing at a later date.
