By The 2 min read

The Fayette County coroner’s office has identified the body of a man found in the rapids at Ohiopyle State Park on Tuesday.

The body of Darryl Lohr, 62, of Mount Pleasant was found in the Rivers End Rapids area of the Youghiogheny River.

Park Manager Ken Bisbee said he received a call from park police that the body had been found around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deputy Coroner Jessie Camilli said Lohr was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are still pending an autopsy that was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. A representative of the coroner’s office said the autopsy results would be available Thursday.

Bisbee said no further information was available and that state police have since taken over the investigation. Trooper Stefani Lucas said police were continuing to investigate and did not have any additional details to release.

On April 16, the body of Michael Davila Jr., 20, of Carnegie, was found near Schoolhouse Rapids along the left side the river, near the Great Allegheny Passage.

Davila had climbed over the railing at the visitor’s center to take a photograph when he slipped on an icy rock and fell into the river about one month before.
