Illegal gambling devices seized from Fayette County businesses

Search warrants were executed at more than 39 liquor-licensed businesses in Fayette and Westmoreland counties on Wednesday by state officials investigating illegal gambling.

A news release from the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement (BCLE) stated that officials also served warrants at a business office and two warehouses in Scottdale belonging to Zucco Vending.

Officials seized 178 video gambling devices and more than $389,000 following a nine-month-long investigation.

Officials said the machines were “designed and operated in such a fashion as to render them illegal in any venue in North America.”

BLCE agents worked with the state police in Greensburg and Uniontown, in addition to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations through the investigation process.

BCLE officials said that they also received several phone calls and complaints from concerned citizens in regards to the illegal gambling devices.

No arrests have been made yet, though a news release stated that “the investigation is continuing and may result in the issuance of arrest warrants for the individuals suspected of participating in the illegal gambling enterprise.”
