Floyd J. “Big Bird” Salosky
Floyd J. ‘Big Bird’ Salosky, age 59, Dilliner, Pennsylvania died on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Friday, October 28, 1955 in Morgantown, West Virginia a beloved son of Paul William Salosky and Dorothy Hornick Salosky
He was a Coal Miner who worked at the Shannopin, Vesta No. 5 and Emerald mines.
Floyd was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local 2258 and the NRA.
He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was predeceased by his parents; and one niece, Jessica Hetz.
Surviving are his loving wife, Debra (Michalik) Salosky; a son, Jeff ‘Jay’ Salosky and his wife Beth of Dilliner; two grandsons: Ryan Tuttle and Tyler Salosky; three brothers: Paul ‘Sonny’ Salosky of Waynesburg, Pa., Bernie ‘Bump’ Salosky and Keith ‘Kip’ Salosky both of Bobtown, Pa.; one sister, Patricia Salosky of Morgantown, West Virginia; his mother-in-law, Marlene Hetz of Greensboro, Pa.; sisters-in-law: Diana DeBolt and her husband Jay of Greensboro, Pa., and Donna Brewer of Fairmont, West Virginia; a number of nieces and nephews including Robert Salosky, Katie McCracken, Frankie Danko and Brian Danko; and his beloved little Chihuahua, ‘Lupe’.
The family will receive friends in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., Thursday from 7 to 9 and Friday, August 21, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The Funeral Service will follow at 12 Noon in the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF DUNKARD, 106 Plant Road, in Taylortown, Pa., with his brother, Pastor Paul Salosky, officiating.
Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro.
