California police revive suspected overdose victim

By The 1 min read

California Borough and California University of Pennsylvania police Thursday afternoon resuscitated a 21-year-old Waynesburg man believed to have overdosed on heroin.

Police were alerted to the situation when a car sped through a traffic signal at Third and Wood streets. According to California Borough Police Chief Rick Encapera, the unresponsive man was found in the front passenger seat and officials administered Narcan to reverse the suspected overdose.

Encapera said police believe the man had used three stamp bags of suspected heroin before passing out. He was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital by Brownsville Ambulance Service.

Charges are pending.

There were 12 suspected heroin overdoses in Washington County this past Sunday, three resulting in fatalities and three others who were resuscitated using medication to reverse the overdose.
