Two people are dead after a vehicle in which they were traveling crashed into a tree Thursday afternoon on Breakneck Road in Bullskin Township.

A supervisor for the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified them as Tyler Garrett Wolfe, 22, of Connellsville, and Kayla Wiltrout, 16, also of Connellsville.

State police said Wolfe was operator of the vehicle, driving westbound on Breakneck Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control just prior to the intersection with East End Road about 4:42 p.m. The vehicle spun counter clockwise across the east-bound lane, exiting the roadway and striking a tree on the passenger side door.

Both the operator and passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle by Bullskin and Connellsville Volunteer Fire Departments. Both were transported from the scene by Fayette EMS and flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh where they were later pronounced dead.

Police said preliminary investigation showed speed to be a factor in this crash.
