John F. Yukish
John F. Yukish, age 67, Uniontown, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from the Uniontown Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Sunday, July 25, 1948 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania a son of John A. Yukish and Catherine (Gavrich) Yukish.
John graduated from South Union High School with the Class of 1966 and from Penn State University in 1970 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Russian.
John was a Branch Manager of American General Finance Company for over thirty years before his retirement.
He was a faithful member of the Central Christian Church in Uniontown where he was a member of the Chancel Choir, participated in the Children’s Sermons and taught Youth Club. He was a past President of the congregation, past Chairman of the General Board, Deacon and Elder
He was also a Charter Member of the cancer support group.
John was a past President of the Rotary Club of Westover, West Virginia.
He was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association and was an avid Penn State Football Fan!
Left to cherish John’s memory are his loving wife of thirty-nine years Kathleen (Berish) Yukish a daughter Kristen Lewis and husband Jeffrey of Green, Ohio; a son Adam Yukish and wife Emily of Washington, Pa.; two grandchildren: Hayden Lewis and Jonah Lewis; a sister, Catherine C. Yukish of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother-in-law, Gary Berish of Brentwood, Pa.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where family and friends were received on Sunday, August 30, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m.
Visitation will continue today Monday, August 31 2015 in the CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 23 South Gallatin Avenue Uniontown, PA 15401 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. followed by a Service Celebrating John’s Life at 11 a.m. Rev. Heather Simpson will officiate.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown, Pennsylvania
The family suggests donations be made in John’s memory to the Central Christian Church (address above).
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sajid M. Peracha, Lisa, Kathy, and the staff of UPMC Cancer Center in Uniontown for their wonderful care, love and support.
