John Henry Porterfield
John Henry Porterfield age 74, of Normalville, Pa., died on Friday, December 4, 2015 in Scottdale Manor.
He was born on Sunday December 22, 1940 in Normalville, Pa., a son of Samuel A. Porterfield and Mildred F. (Pirl) Porterfield.
John was a member of the Mill Run United Methodist Church.
John was formerly employed at the Anchor Hocking Glass in South Connellsville, Pa., then went to Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, Pa., where he retired as a Painter.
Following his retirement, John was employed as a School Bus Driver for the Colborn Bus Lines.
John enjoyed the outdoors, especially when farming and hunting.
John was predeceased by his parents; a son, John S. Porterfield who died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at age 40; a brother, David Porterfield; three sisters, Sarah Firestone, Charlotte Shultz, and Emma Porterfield.
John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Kay (Snyder) Porterfield, four sisters: Jean Burkholder and husband Dale of Connellsville, Pa. Lillian Hall and husband Larry of Connellsville, Pa Hazel Lowe and husband John of Garards Fort, Pa. and June Porterfield of Normalville, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Biler of Normalville, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Margaret O’ Brian of Macedonia, Ohio; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a very special friend, Terry Dave and family of Normalville, Pa.
Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME 123 South First Street, West Side, Connellsville, PA 15425 (724.628.9033) on Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Bonomo officiating.
Interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery.
