Edward F. Zeglen Sr., Clarksville, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 7th, 2015 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia, while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Tuesday, October 10th, 1939 in Royal, Fayette County, Pa., a son of George Zeglen and Agnes (Lucostic) Zeglen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, John Zeglen and Joseph Zeglen; and three sisters, Anne Bordeleau, Antoinette Skobel, and Mary Fell.

His surviving siblings include Helen Oshinsky of Akron, Ohio, Rose Eshelman of Inverness, Florida, George Zeglen (Fran) of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters-in-law: Joanne Zeglen of Massillon, Ohio and Margaret Zeglen of Grindstone, Pa.; several nephews and nieces.

He was the Business Manager for the Youth Development Center and then for the P e n n s y l v a n i a D e p a r t m e n t of Corrections, Waynesburg retiring after 40 years.

He and his wife also ran their own accounting and income tax practice for 50 years.

He was a 1957 graduate of Redstone High School and a 1961 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

]He was known to all as Santa for over 40 years and played Santa twice on Sunday the 6th. He donated all of his proceeds to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and to the Mothers Hope Foundation.

He enjoyed his yard at Christmas for all to see putting over 150 light-up ornaments out each year.

He and Mrs. Claus participated in the annual Waynesburg Christmas Parade and received the ‘2014 Special Distinguished Service Award’ from the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

In the 1970’s, he was a co-founder and president of the Greene Valley Youth Activities.

He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and watching them participate in all sports.

He was an avid Penn State football fan from the time that Joe Paterno was an assistant until today. They had season tickets for over 20 years.

He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Waynesburg Council 12703.

He was a member of the National Society of Tax Professionals.

He had taught Defensive Driving for the AARP in Greene County.

He also had delivered Meals-On-Wheels for several years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandy (Tassone) Zeglen; two sons: Edward Zeglen Jr. and his fiancée Gloria Conklin of Clarksville, Pa., and Michael Zeglen and his wife Linda of Rices Landing, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Roberta Zeglen; two grandsons: Edward Zeglen III and Mateusz Zeglen and his fiancée Georganna Ferek; two step grandsons: Brandon (Kristin) Teasdale and Chad Teasdale; and four step-great grandchildren: Gavin Teasdale, Carrington Teasdale, Urijah Teasdale and Nadia Teasdale.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m in the BEHM FUNERAL HOMES INC., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, Supervisor, where a Blessing Service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the SAINT MARCELLUS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1340 Jefferson Road, Jefferson PA 15344 with Rev. Father J. Francis Frazer as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park 132 Twin Hills Road, Brier Hill, PA 15415.

In lieu of other tokens of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at (Donate St. Jude).
