Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Friday afternoon at the Frick Tri-County Federal Credit Union on Pittsburgh Street in Uniontown.

Uniontown and state Police are investigating a robbery at the Frick Tri-County Federal Credit Union Friday afternoon.

According to Uniontown Lt. Tom Kolencik a lone male suspect entered the credit union at 235 Pittsburgh St. shortly before 2:25 p.m.

“He had his right hand in his pocket and he ordered the teller to give him all the money and not to push any buttons or people would get shot,” Kolencik said.

No weapon was actually shown, according to Kolencik.

The suspect is described as a stocky black male, approximately 5-feet-10 tall, wearing a black, hooded jacket with the hood pulled up over a brimmed blue cap. He was also wearing blue jeans and black shoes with a white stripe. The suspect had a surgical mask over his face.

Kolencik said that even though the suspect had parked the getaway vehicle around the corner from the credit union, it was picked up by the surveillance cameras and witnesses. It is believed to be a silver or grey S550 series Mercedes sedan.

“It fled south, into the city,” Kolencik said. “We’re asking for the public’s help. If they know anyone who drives a car of that description, call 9-1-1 or Crimestoppers.”

Crimestoppers can be reached by dialing 724-320-2042 or send an email to crimestoppersfayette@gmail.com.

Kolencik said there were no stolen vehicles reported recently that matched the suspected getaway vehicle.

Kolencik said there were six to eight employees in the credit union at the time of the robbery, but no customers were present. No one was injured. Kolencik said everyone needs to be cautious this time of year.

“It’s Christmas time, the time of the year when people are a little more desperate for money. Be diligent in your surroundings and report anything that looks suspicious,” Kolencik said.
