CONNELLSVILLE — An armed man robbed the PNC Bank in the Connellsville Shopping Center on Memorial Boulevard, Wednesday afternoon.

No shots were fired and no one was injured, but the man fled with an undetermined amount of cash, said Connellsville Police Chief James Capitos.

“We did in fact have a bank robbery,” Capitos said.

The suspect, a white man with a medium build wearing wrap around sunglasses and a pull over hat, displayed a large framed chrome or silver colored semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from an employee, Capitos said.

After taking the money, he fled on foot north across York Avenue, he said, Police are looking for the suspect.

The robbery was reported at 2:26 p.m.

Capitos said he didn’t know how many customers were in the bank, but approximately six employees were there when the robbery occurred.

It is not clear from bank security camera photos whether the gun was real or a fake, he said.
