Valentina Gulino Applause

Valentina Gulino of Uniontown captured the title of Junior Miss Dance of Pennsylvania 2016, a scholarship competition sponsored by the Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 that was recently held in Monroeville.
Gulino, 10, attends Larraine Susa’s Dance Unlimited in Uniontown. Her dance teacher is Kathleen Brittain.
Competitors for the title were adjudicated by three professional dance judges from Texas, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma for a private interview and dance audition classes in acrobatic, ballet, jazz and tap. Competing against 29 girls ages 10 to 12, Gulina tied for first place in both the interview and overall audition classes, obtaining the highest score in acrobatic class.
Each dancer then performed a solo routine in their specific genre of dance. Gulina’s energetic routine to “Dancing Tonight” incorporated a high degree of difficulty of dance movements, acrobatics and tumbling. In this phase of the competition which generates the most points, Valentina placed first.
A daughter of Nick and Tina Gulino of Uniontown, Gulina and her sister, Giavanna, will attend the Dance Masters of America National Convention this summer for a week of intense dance classes. While there, Valentina will compete for the title of Junior Miss Dance of America 2016.
