Give-A-Christmas campaign accepts additional donations
The Salvation Army will be gifted additional funds on behalf of the 2015 Herald-Standard Give-A-Christmas campaign.
Sparkle, the Christmas Star, said she was thrilled to accept the late donations that totaled nearly $400.
“We greatly appreciate the extra donations that will go toward spreading holiday cheer,” Sparkle, the mascot, said. The Salvation Army fund will serve neighborhoods in the Herald-Standard readership area.
“Although Wednesday was our final day, we’re always happy to accept these much-needed donations that will help those in need this holiday season,” Sparkle added. On Wednesday, Sparkle announced that through generous donations from the community, they were able to raise $23,567.68.
The late donors totaled $380. They include Raz, Carol, Paully and Tabby of Uniontown, in memory of Joseph and Betty Doljac; Glen and Sherry Bryner, of Lemont Furnace, in honor of their grandchildren Benjamin and Cheyanne Jordan; the Albert Gallatin South Middle School; Charlotte Hughes of Allison; Bob and Eva Lou Balchak, of Uniontown, in memory of “my precious granddaughter Julie Balchak”; Barb and Bud Johns, of LaBelle, in memory of their niece Kandis Hill and sister-in-law Janet Kniseley; and Wayne and Carol Shaffer, of Uniontown, in honor of their grandchildren.
“We’re all so glad that we had the opportunity to help our community this Christmas. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support and donations,” Sparkle said.
