A Mount Morris man allegedly escaped Fayette County Prison Sunday night with the help of his sister.

Police are searching for Waylan Hodge Hanlan Jr., 27, who allegedly escaped the prison at about 8 p.m., scaled a fence and fled into the woods.

His sister, Vanessa Wendy Hanlan, 23, of Dilliner, was arrested Monday.

Police allege she conspired to help him escape. They say she harbored him at her residence and provided him clothes, knowing he escaped from jail.

Waylan Hanlan is slim with blonde hair and blue eyes. Police said he is 6-feet 3-inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. They said he may be driving a black 2004 Honda Civic coupe with Pennsylvania license plate number JTT-6241.

He was lodged in the jail on charges of a parole violation, simple assault and fleeing and eluding, police said.

Hanlan is now facing additional charges of escape and conspiracy, filed Sunday before Magisterial District Judge Louis M. Dayich.

Vanessa Hanlan is charged with criminal conspiracy to escape and two counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution. Her bail was set at $25,000.

Anyone with information on Waylan Hanlan’s whereabouts is asked to call state police in Waynesburg at 724- 627-6151.
