Police seeking suspect in Uniontown robbery

A man who robbed a Uniontown restaurant Tuesday fled the scene with only $60.
Uniontown City Police Department Lt. Tom Kolencik said a young, dark-skinned black male walked into Canton Chinese restaurant at about 4:30 p.m. and demanded money.
He said the suspect had something in his left hand when he made the demand, but the hand was covered.
“It insinuated that there was a firearm,” he said.
Kolencik said the man took the money from the drawer and asked about a safe, but the restaurant does not have one.
He said the man was wearing a black, zip-up hoodie and is between 5-feet 6-inches tall and 5-feet 8-inches tall. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Less than one week ago and less than one-quarter mile away, Andy’s Auto Body Shop at 72 E. Fayette St. was robbed. In that case, Kolencik said there were two suspects, and the physical description was slightly different.
“We don’t want to say it was related, but we aren’t ruling it out either,” he said.
Police collected forensic evidence from the scene Tuesday.
State police assisted.
