Charles E. ‘Chuck’ Kelley, age 91, a lifelong resident of Point Marion, Pennsylvania went home to be with his Lord on Friday February 13, 2015
Born in Point Marion on Wednesday, October 3, 1923, he was a son of the now late Edgar B. Kelley and Gwendolyn (Costello) Kelley.
A 1941 graduate of Point Marion High School, he was active in both the marching and concert bands and the Che-Mon Yearbook staff.
He played football and basketball and was a member of the 1939 Point Marion High School WPIAL Class B Championship Basketball Team.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific.
Chuck worked for the former McClain Sand Company, Point Marion, and retired as River Boat Captain for Mon River Towing of Speers, Pa.
He remained a member of the Masters, Mates, and Pilots International Union.
A lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Point Marion, he also attended and supported the Point Marion United Methodist Church.
He was very active in the town, holding memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 747, the F.O.E. Aerie 1932, and the former I.O.O.F. No. 1173.
Mr. Kelley was a Scout Master along with his father for the local troop for many years.
Chuck was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was an avid Mountaineers fan, cheering on the football and basketball teams. The only time he did not cheer for the Mountaineers was when they were playing Navy!
He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him.
His loving wife, Gene Maxine (Campbell) Kelley passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007.
Also deceased are two sons, Kent A. Kelley in infancy and Douglas A. Kelley; and a daughter, Nancy Kelley Wilson.
Surviving are one son, Charles E. Kelley Jr. and his wife Deborah of Punxsutawney, Pa.; a daughter, Mary Beth Kelley, Point Marion, Pa; daughter-in-law, Nancy Kelley, Pataskala, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Nichole Barkowitz and husband Steven of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, Laura Kelley and friend Jeremy Alborn of New Castle, Pa., Charles E. Kelley III and his fianceé Kirsten Eberlein of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jeff Wilson of Herndon, Virginia, Chuck Wilson and his wife Dana of Providence Village, Texas, Jaime Young and husband Bob of Herndon, Virginia, Erin Ness and husband Ben, Pataskala, Ohio, Charla Bennett and husband Larry, Massillon Ohio and Timothy Kelley and his fianceé Stephanie Hoover, Columbus, Ohio; six great-grandchildren: Alexander Conrad, Evan Barkowitz, Calvin Wilson, Nadia Wilson, Maggie Ness and Riley Bennett; and one brother, James Kelley of Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

Friends will be received in RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., today 2 to 5 p.m. and on Monday, February 16, 2015 until 10:00 a.m., the hour of the Service with Pastor Beverly Roscoe officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa., with Military Honors accorded by the Point Marion Veterans Posts.
