Bartholomew J. “Bart” Verbanic
Bartholomew J. ‘Bart’ Verbanic, age 78, of Merrittstown, Pa., passed away on Saturday February 14, 2015 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born on Saturday, May 30, 1936 in Merrittstown, Pa., a son of the late Joseph Verbanic and Frances (Durigon) Verbanic.
Bart was a member of and very active in the former Holy Rosary Church, Republic, Pa.
He was also a member of the Frank Ricco Sons of Italy Lodge No. 731 in Brownsville, Pa.
Bart received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Ball State University.
He was a retired Supervisor of the maintenance department for the Brownsville Area School District.
He served in the United States Army Reserve.
Surviving are his loving wife, M. Joyce (Minerd) Verbanic; children: Kristine Sickles and husband John of Moon Township, Pa., Melissa Martinelli and husband John of Belle Vernon, Pa., Bart Verbanic and wife Deanna of Montague, Michigan, Susan Arbogast and husband Doug of Morgantown, West Virginia, and David Verbanic and wife Andrea of Hibbs, Pa.; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Mitzi Beck of York, Pa., Bunny Elliott of Greensburg, Pa.
Friends will be received in ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., One Legion Street, Republic, PA 15475 on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, February 20, 2015 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Footedale Worship site, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
