Police investigate armed robbery in Connellsville
Police are searching for three men who allegedly robbed a home Tuesday in Connellville.
Connellsville police Chief James Capitos said a woman, whose name has not been released to the media, reported that she was robbed at gunpoint around 10:30 a.m. at her residence on 511 East Murphy Street near Highlands Hospital. He said no one was hurt in the robbery and that about a $1,000 was stolen from the residence.
Police were able to identify John Anthony Saban, 22, of Pittsburgh as one of the suspects. Police said Saban is considered armed and dangerous.
Capitos said men left the residence in a red or maroon 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Police were able to obtain the vehicle’s license plate number which was registered to an individual in Pittsburgh.
“We are continuing our investigation,” Capitos said. “I anticipate that charges will be filed in the near future.”
Police said a warrant has been issued for Saban’s arrest, who was charged with multiple counts of robbery-firearm, burglary, criminal trespass, theft, making terroristic threats, endangering the welfare and criminal conspiracy.
Police encourage anyone to contact their local police department or Fayette County 911 if they know Saban’s location. If anyone has further information, they can call Connellsville police at 724-628-2501 ext. 110.
