State police searching for suspect in shooting death of woman
State police said criminal homicide charges have been filed against a Uniontown man in the death of a Uniontown woman who was found dead in her car Saturday after being shot in the head.
Terry Walker, 45, of 58 North Ave. is accused of killing Mya Ann Grady, 36, of Uniontown.
Police and a SERT team attempted to serve an arrest warrant at Walker’s last known address, but were unable to locate him.
Trooper Stefani Lucas said Walker, who has a history of violence against police, should be considered armed and dangerous.
Grady, of 30 Thomas St., was discovered Saturday morning in her car on Route 40 eastbound at the Lick Hollow State Park entrance in South Union Township. A state Department of Transportation snow plow operator stopped to check on the vehicle, which he believed to be disabled, and found her body.
Officials from the Fayette County coroner’s office said Grady died of a gunshot wound to the head.
In 2008, Walker was charged with punching a police officer in the face when the officer tried to take him into custody at a Uniontown convenience store following a dispute inside.
Walker was charged with aggravated and simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Following a 2009 trial, a jury convicted him of simple assault and disorderly conduct, but deadlocked on the other two charges. Prosecutors opted not to retry Walker on those charges, and dismissed the aggravated assault and resisting arrest counts.
Walker was sentenced to one to two years in prison for simple assault.
Anyone with information on Walker’s whereabouts is asked to call state police at 724-439-7111.
