Betty Jean (Cooper) Connors

Betty Jean (Cooper) Connors, 89, of Dunbar, Pa., went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2015.

A life-long resident of Dunbar, Pa., she was born July 4th, 1926, to the late Charles Cooper and Lillian (Landman) Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, John Regis ‘Jack’ Connors.

Betty was a long-time employee of Pechin’s Market.

She was an active and devoted member of Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, where she served as president and held many other positions in the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a member of the Church Council and along with her husband served on many committees, planning church dinners and social activities. Their spiritual and social lives revolved around the church they both loved.

Betty was a charter member of the Dunbar Borough Parent Teacher Association, who worked with parents and teachers in other schools to form similar organizations.

She was a Girl Scout troop leader, a member of the Red Hat Society, and an active member of Curves.

Betty was a dynamo, who well into her 70’s continued to take aerobics classes, taught water aerobics to senior citizens, and rode mountain bikes with her beloved brother, Jack Cooper.

There was nothing she loved more than riding the waves at the beach with her children, grand children and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the beach trips she and her husband took with their special friends, Frannie and Paul Miller.

For most of her life, Betty was the devoted and loving caregiver for her dear sister Anna Mae Cooper.

Betty was a member of the Central Committee for the Democratic Party who worked tirelessly to promote local candidates, and for decades worked at the election polls in Dunbar.

Betty graduated from Dunbar Township High School with the class of 1945, where she was a proud majorette for the Dunbar Mules, and later served for many years on the organizing committee for her class reunions.

Betty will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered, by her family: daughter, Maureen (Gary) Coldren, son, John (Bethany) Connors, daughter, Colleen (Gary) Marshall, daughter, Kathleen Beal; grandchildren, Thomas (Nicole) Cook, Donald (Sarah) Cook, Gary David (Karen) Coldren, Leslie (James) Grimplin, lris Whitworth, Selene (Randy) DeLosSantos, Bayley Neville, Garrett (Suzanne) Marshall, Shannon Marshall, Sara Beal, Andrew Beal; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Connor and Cassidy Jean Cook, Carter and Quinn Cook. She is also survived by her sister Pearl Seaton and many loving nieces and nephews

ln addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Spears and Anna Mae Cooper, and brothers, Frank, William, Charles, Jack, and infant twins lvan and Arthur Cooper.

The family is grateful for the loving care she received at Mount Saint Macrina for the past several years.

Betty’s favorite saying was ‘God’s been good to me.’ He sent us Betty, so He sure was good to us.

Friends will be received today, Sunday, 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m and Monday 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar Pa. 15431.

Parish Wake Service Monday at 2:30 & the Rosary at 3:30.

Morning prayers at the funeral home Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Dunbar at 10:30 a.m. with Father Micah E. Kozoil and Deacon Bert Kuhns as celebrants.

lnterment to follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
