Police accuse Connellsville man with attempted homicide
State police have accused a Connellsville man with attempted homicide after he struck a man with a baseball bat while breaking in to a home in Bullskin Township.
Police allege that when Nathan Edward Williams attempted to break open a front door Monday morning, he was confronted by Brock Patrick Gilpin and Crystal Mae Weber. Police said Weber grabbed a metal baseball bat and asked Williams to leave the residence, located at 176 Rock Pool Road.
The complaint said Williams allegedly kicked in a side door and broke in to the house. Weber confronted him, but he allegedly threw her out of the way, police said.
Police allege that Williams’ mother, who drove him to the scene, tried to stop her son by taking him away from the residence. Police did not reveal the mother’s name in the complaint.
The complaint said Williams allegedly hit Weber in the face with his fist. Police allege that after Gilpin punched Williams in the face, Williams struck Gilpin twice in the head with the baseball bat.
Gilpin then ran into the bedroom and locked himself inside, the complaint said.
As Weber stood in front of the bedroom, Williams said he was not going to hurt her but that he was going to kill Gilpin, police allege.
Williams walked out of the residence but soon returned, police said.
After Weber begged Williams to leave, he finally left, police allege.
Williams, 29, was charged with attempted criminal homicide, burglary, aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, making terroristic threats and criminal trespass, according to court documents.
Williams was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Court Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr., who set bond at $75,000. Williams remains in Fayette County Prison.
