Willis D. Tressler
Willis D. Tressler, age 94, of South Connellsville, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Harmon House Care Center, Mount Pleasant.
He was born on Wednesday December 1, 1920 a son of James Tressler and Bessie (Knopsnider) Tressler in South Connellsville, Pa.
Willis had asked Jesus Christ to be his Savior when he was a teenager through the witness of his aunt, Marilene ‘Deannie’ Sanner.
He was a Charter Member of Faith Bible Church in Connellsville where he served as a Deacon, sang tenor in the choir, and ministered as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendant.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, part of that time in Burma, China and India. Willis was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Service Stars, American Theatre Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He worked for Swan’s Appliance and Furniture in Connellsville for 50 years as a Salesman and as Head of the Parts and Repair Department. He was known for his memory of all of the parts numbers and for his willingness to explain repairs to others over the phone.
Willis also enjoyed automobiles and repairing them.
Willis was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Muriel Madison Tressler in 2002; his parents; and by his brother, Trevor in 1998.
Willis is survived by his four children: daughters Loma Tressler and Andrea Tressler of South Connellsville, Pa., son Ken Tressler and his wife Carol of Trafford, Pa., and son John Tressler and his wife Vicki of Mill Run, Pa. He also has four grand children: Nicole Bright and her husband Adam of Pittsburgh, Pa., Matthew Tressler of Philadelphia, Pa., Nathan Tressler of West Chester, Pa., and Mark Tressler of Trafford, Pa. His great grandson is Colin Bright.
The family expresses their appreciation and gratefulness to all of those at Harmon House who cared for Willis over the last eight months.

Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
