Owen D. ‘Johnny’ Brooks, age 87, Dunbar, Pa., died on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born Thursday, December 15, 1927 in Somerfield, Somerset County, Pa., a son of Richard Brooks and Grace Matthews Brooks.
Mr. Brooks graduated from the former South Union High School in Uniontown, Pa.
He was a retired Truck Driver employed by Morrow Leasing for many years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army with the rank of Corporal.
He was a member of Connellsville Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church where he served the church in various capacities over the years.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Parker Lambie, Sterling Lambie and his wife Josephine, Bessie and Edward Jackson, Doc and Sophie Lambie, Charlie Lambie and Alice Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline P. (Lambie) Brooks; two children: Debbie Cossick and her husband Richard of Connellsville, Pa., and Jon Brooks and his wife Rhonda of Connellsville, Pa.; two grandchildren: Josh Cossick and his wife Laura and Nicole Brooks; a great grandson, Owen Cossick; three sisters-in-law: Henrietta Miller, Amiee Sproul of Chalk Hill, Pa., and Carol Lambie of Ohiopyle, Pa.; and a special nephew, Bernard Lambie and his family.
Friends will be received today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., where Services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Douglas Johnson will officiate.
Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa., where Military Rites and Honors will be accorded by the Connellsville Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Honor Guard.
