Joan (Wilson) Rittenhouse
Joan (Wilson) Rittenhouse, age 86, of Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in the Uniontown Hospital.
She was born Monday, March 11, 1929 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania a daughter of Iphmer Wilson and Eva Marie (Shank) Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wylie Scott Rittenhouse, Auctioneer; her parents; her brother, Jack Wilson.
Joan graduated from Uniontown High School with the class of 1947.
She was a member of Great Bethel Baptist Church.
She worked for Bell Telephone Company.
She worked alongside her husband Wylie at Rittenhouse Auctioneers.
She was past president of the National Auctioneers Association Auxiliary and a member of their Hall of Fame.
Joan was instrumental in having the Curfew Recreation Center and pool in Flatwoods, Pa., constructed.
She was a life guard and had a passion for swimming and diving.
Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her three daughters: Patti J. Rittenhouse, Sandra R. Brittingham and husband Mike, and Barbara R. Benninger and husband Mike; six grandchildren: Jayme Fullerton and husband Matt, Joanie Berg and husband Mike, Kate Reed and husband Anthony, Ryan Benninger and wife Claire, Lauryn Benninger, and Ian Benninger; and two great grandchildren: Laurelin Fullerton and Gabriel Benninger.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where family and friends may call today, Monday, May 18, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the GREAT BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 47 West Fayette Street, followed by a Service Celebrating Joan’s Life at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Carl W. Gittings will officiate.
Interment will follow in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery, Vanderbilt, Pa
