SCI-Fayette guard to face charges for indecent assault of a female CO

A state corrections officer from Ohiopyle accused of exposing himself to a female guard he supervised and making unwanted sexual advances toward her, had all charges held Wednesday for Fayette County Court.
Gary Robert Crayton, 52, of Chalk Hill-Ohiopyle Road faces four charges of indecent assault, two charges of harassment and one count of indecent exposure.
In court papers filed before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., Raymond Heinle, an investigator with the state Department of Corrections, indicated that the female guard at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette in Luzerne Township reported Crayton’s alleged harassment in July. The woman told authorities that the alleged harassment went back to 2008 or 2009, when Crayton grabbed her buttocks.
At the time, she told investigators, she did not report it because she was afraid of retribution.
The Herald-Standard does not identify those who allege they are victims of sexual assault.
The woman testified Wednesday that she did not report the incident because by virtue of working in the prison system, “if you report it, they are going to make your life miserable.”
The woman said she was harassed on a daily basis by Crayton who made sexual suggestions about what he would do to her. She said she never reported these incidents to prison authorities.
In the complaint, authorities alleged in April or May of last year, Crayton “took his harassment to the next level.”
The woman testified Crayton called her to a staff restroom, where he was inside touching his exposed genitals, and asked her again if she would have sex with him.
When she rebuffed him, the woman testified, he laughed and said, “You know I still love you” before she walked away.
She said there were no witnesses to what occurred.
Crayton is also employed as a part-time security guard at Lady Lucky Casino at Nemacolin Woodlands, the complaint indicated.
When the woman and her husband where there in June, Crayton tried to touch her, but she was able to avoid him, she testified, and introduced Crayton to her husband.
A few days later while at work, Crayton made remarks about the pants the woman was wearing at the casino, touched her thigh and started to move his hand toward her genitals, the woman testified. She said she slapped his hand away and told him to stop.
Crayton went to the restroom, and again called the woman over, she testified.
The woman testified that she asked him if it was an order or not to come over to the restroom. When she went to see what he wanted, Crayton was again allegedly touching his genitals, she said.
She said Crayton again propositioned her.
Again, she testified, there were no witnesses to Crayton’s alleged conduct in this instance.
Crayton remains free on bond.
After the hearing before Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham, Crayton’s attorney, Joel S. Sansone of Pittsburgh, said his client’s rights and reputation will be vindicated at trial on this matter.
