No injuries reported in Albert Gallatin school bus crash
No one was injured when an Albert Gallatin School District bus carrying nine students collided with another vehicle Friday afternoon on Big 6 Road in Georges Township.
According to Superintendent Carl Bezjak, there were nine Albert Gallatin Area High School students on the bus as it was rear-ended on Big 6 Road just before 2:15 p.m. None of the students were injured, he said.
District Transportation Director Chris Pegg, said the bus was in the process of making a stop when the accident occurred. Pegg notified the high school principal and the high school nurse, who responded to the scene before first responders arrived as an extra precaution to ensure all of the students were safe.
According to Pegg, four of the students were released to their parents who arrived on the scene and the remaining students were transferred to another bus which proceeded to take them home.
Pegg said all parents of the students on the bus will be notified.
Volunteer fire departments from Fairchance and Haydentown responded, as well as Fairchance EMS and Uniontown State Police. First responders were still on scene as of 3:45 p.m., according to Fayette County 911.
