Robert Jay Daugherty
Robert Jay Daugherty, age 84, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born on Sunday, January 4, 1931 in Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania to Willis C. Daugherty and Carmen I. (Kennedy) Daugherty.
He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the United States Air Force.
‘Bob’ graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
He was Office Manager for Point Marion Ford Sales, Point Marion, Pa.
He formerly served as Borough Treasurer for Point Marion Borough.
He was a former coach for both Little League and Teener League Baseball teams.
An avid golfer, he belonged to Springdale Golf Club, Uniontown, Pa
He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Suburban Lanes Bowling League in Morgantown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sara Jean Drew and Leora Ganoe; and two brothers, W. Irwin Daugherty and Ray Daugherty.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Treese Daugherty sons: Jeffrey Daugherty of Masontown, Pa., and Jay Daugherty of Point Marion, Pa.; one brother, Jack Daugherty of Point Marion, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the LOUIS E. RUDOLPH FUNERAL HOME, Thomas B. Rudolph, Funeral Director and Supervisor, 15 Main Street, Point Marion, PA 15474 (724.725.5256) Monday, November 23, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of Service. Pastor French Jenkins will officiate.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa., where Military Rites and Honors will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 747 and the American Legion Post 499 both of Point Marion.
