Charles Popovich Jr.
Charles Popovich Jr., age 85, Masontown, Pa., passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
He was born in Masontown, Pa., on Saturday, November 23, 1929 the son of Charles and Ann Popovich.
Charles graduated from Masontown High School.
He served honorably in United States Marine Corps.
Before retiring, he was employed for 38 years as Street Supervisor for Masontown Borough.
He was a member of Saint Mary Nativity Orthodox Church in Masontown where he served as Vice President for many years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Faith-Gray- McArdle Post 4584 in Masontown, Pa.
He was predeceased by his parents; and by his daughter, Sandra M. Popovich.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Rose (Koshi) Popovich; son, Charles G. Popovich Sr. and his wife Patricia of Masontown, Pa.; grand children: Lisa Burdett and husband Duncan, and Charles G. ‘CJ’ Popovich Jr.; two great grandsons: Brian Burdett and Lucas Burdett; his sisters: Ann Cordic of New York state, Mary Joric of Massachusetts and Barb Macik of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, Seven River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., Monday, October 5, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 6, 2015 until 9:30 a.m. when Panachida Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Divine Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Nativity Orthodox Church, 309 South Washington Street, Masontown, Pa., with Father Dimitre Dimitrov officiating.
Interment at Saint Mary Nativity Orthodox Church Cemetery, Masontown, Pa., where Military Honors and Rites will be accorded by the Masontown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and the American Legion Post 423.
Parastas Service will be held in Funeral Home on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
