Eugenia Jean C. Griffith
Eugenia ‘Jean’ Aurie Coleman Griffith of Pittsburgh, Pa., formerly of Uniontown and Brownsville, Pa., died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
Jean was born on January 9, 1923 in Brownsville, Pa. to William S. and Mairee Coleman, who were originally from South Carolina.
Jean considered herself to be a ‘Southern girl,’ and loved visiting her family throughout South Carolina.
Jean was a graduate of Brownsville High School. She earned a B.A. and a M.Ed. from California State Teacher’s College.
For over 30 years, Jean taught elementary school and junior high level special education in the Brownsville School District.
In 1950, Jean married her ‘dream man,’ William D. Griffith, and they enjoyed 55 loving years together in their homes in Brownsville, Uniontown and Ft. Lauderdale until Bill passed away in 2005.
Jean was proud to tell you that she loved the Lord. She taught Sunday school classes from the age of 12 until she moved to Pittsburgh with her daughter in late 2013.
While living in Brownsville, Jean was an active member of South Brownsville United Methodist Church.
After moving to Uniontown in 1976, Jean was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she frequently taught the Women’s Fellowship Group.
Jean was preceded in death by her sister Jeroldeane (Coleman) Rainone, whom she dearly loved.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Sally Griffith Cimini, and her husband Carl of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a beloved granddaughter, Tristan Cimini, who is currently attending Oberlin College; a very special niece, Jeanine Rainone of Washington, Pa.; a brother, Paul Coleman, of West Palm Beach, Fl., and many nieces and nephews in the Griffith family.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015.
A service celebrating Jean’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Foley officiating.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park in Brier Hill, Pa.
Brownsville was a special place holding treasured memories for Jean.
