Uniontown fire ruled suspicious

1 min read

A fire that destroyed a garage and damaged neighboring property Thursday afternoon was “absolutely” suspicious, according to Uniontown fire Chief Buck Griffith.

The garage and house at 52 Lincoln St. has been abandoned for about 10 years, according to neighbor Denise Horvath.

Her roof was damaged in the fire. A truck, power lines and a telephone pole owned by West Penn Power were also damaged. Electricity from the pole at the intersection of Vance and Penn streets was shut off while crews worked to fix the lines. Electrical wires were on the ground in front of nearby houses.

An off-duty Uniontown firefighter, Roger Bricker, was transported to the hospital when he was injured by the fire. He lives across the street from the garage and owns the truck damaged in the fire.

Another firefighter was treated by Fayette EMS at the scene.
