1 min read

A Dunbar woman was killed in a vehicle accident in Blair County on Saturday.

Freedom Township police said Courtney Knopsnider lost control of the vehicle she was driving on Johnstown Road heading eastbound shortly before 4:30 p.m. The vehicle struck a guardrail and a tree before coming to a rest.

Knopsider was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Amanda Dewitt, 19, of White was flown by helicopter to UPMC Altoona with serious injuries, police said.

Police said Dewitt indicated that they were traveling to visit Knopsnider’s boyfriend, who worked in the area.

An investigation is ongoing, though police indicated that speed may have been a factor.
