Florence (Koury) Thomas of Lewes, Delaware, and formerly of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Thursday October 22, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late Faris and Anna Koury of Uniontown, Pennsylvania

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dr. William A Thomas Sr.; sister, Amelia Koury; and brother, Simon Koury.

Florence received a Bachelor’s Degree of Education and a Master’s Degree from California University of Pennsylvania.

She taught at Dunbar Township Elementary School as a Reading Specialist for 15 years.

Florence was member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Pleasant Valley Country Club.

She was a member of Saint George Maronite Church, Uniontown, Pennsylvania and the Ladies Guild.

She was a member of the Columbiettes of Lewes, Delaware, Lewes Yacht Club, and Saint Jude the Apostle Church.

She enjoyed playing golf and playing Bridge.

She was an avid reader

Florence was a devoted mother and Sithee to her four children, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Florence is survived by her loving children: Karen Galderisi and husband Carmen of Camus, Washington, Dr. Garry Thomas and wife Victoria of Jupiter Florida, Dr. Denise T. Wilcox and husband Dr. David Wilcox of D o y l e s t o w n, P e n n s y l v a n i a Dr. William A. Thomas Jr. and wife Dr. Michele Thomas of Lewes, Delaware; as well as grandchildren: Dr. Chad Galderisi and wife Dr. Faith Galderisi, Kathryn Tarr and husband Daniel Tarr, Kimberly Thomas, Brittney Galderisi, Zachary T. Wilcox, Koury Thomas, William A. Thomas, III, Matthew Thomas, Grant Thomas and Jacqueline Thomas; also great-grandchildren: Gabriella Rose Galderisi, Gavin Galderisi, Benjamin Tarr, and Henry James Tarr. She is also survived by sisters: Cecelia Stegura (husband Theodore Stegura) of Wilmington, Delaware and Shirley Kefover of Uniontown, Pennsylvania and a sister-in-law, Trudy Koury of Uniontown, Pennsylvania

Visitation will take place at the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown Pa., on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

The Parish Rosary will be recited in the afternoon.

The Service of Ghinnaz will be held in the evening.

The Divine Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at SAINT GEORGE MARONITE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, with Rev. Father Claude Franklin as the Celebrant.

Entombment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pennsylvania
