Candidate name misspelled on ballot

By The 1 min read

A Republican candidate in the 49th Legislative District race will not have her name spelled correctly on the April 26 primary ballot.

Melanie Stringhill-Patterson of Belle Vernon said that the Washington County Board of Elections printed the ballot that shows her first name as “Maelanie,” not Melanie.

Stringhill-Patterson is one of two candidates seeking the GOP nomination in the race. Bud Cook, of West Pike Run, is the second candidate.

Earlier this year, state Rep. Pete Daley, D-California, who has held the position for nearly four decades, said he would not seek re-election.

Six Democrats, including Alan D. Benyak, of Charleroi, Donn R. Henderson, of Fallowfield Township, Randy J. Barli, of Coal Center, Robert Kepics of Monongahela, Brendan Garay of California and Mark L. Alterici of Charleroi are seeking their party nod in the race.
