Diletta (Ruggieri) Orlando
Diletta (Ruggieri) Orlando, age 89, of Vanderbilt, Pa., died on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Jefferson Hospital.
She was born on Tuesday, January 4, 1927 the daughter of Matteo Ruggieri and Rose (Corrado) Ruggieri.
She graduated from Connellsville High School where she was the Head Majorette of the band, in the Class of 1944
After high school, she attended and graduated from the Uniontown Beauty Academy. She worked for Eloise Beauty Salon in Connellsville.
She taught dancing with her brother at Erni’s Dance Studio.
She also worked at the Hollywood Dress Shop and also at the Pro Shop at Linden Hall.
She was a member of Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Dunbar
Her favorite hobbies were shopping with her daughters, baking, and watching then discussing her favorite soap opera with her sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patsy Orlando (1988); two brothers, Col. Joseph P. Ruggieri and Ernie Ruggieri; and sister, Josephine Bonadio
She is survived by her daughters: Pam Lowe and husband Denny of Vanderbilt, Pa., Debbie Stock and husband Howie, Connellsville, Pa; grandchildren: Patrick Lowe and wife Heather of Connellsville, Pa., and Lexi O’Conner and husband Patrick of Rockville, Maryland; special great grandpuppy Crosby; sisters-in-law: Pearl Ruggieri of Connellsville, Pa., and Angie and husband Mickey of Vanderbilt, Pa; devoted caregiver, Mary Allhouse; many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., Dennis N. Heath Jr., Supervisor, 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. where the Parish Wake Service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, April 19, 2016, a Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. in the SAINT ALOYSIUS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, Ranch Road, Dunbar, Pa., with Rev. Father Micah E. Kozoil as Celebrant. (Everyone, please go directly to the Church).
Interment will follow at the Saint Rita Roman Catholic Cemetery, Connellsville, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations can be made to the Geibel High School Music Department, 611 East Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, PA 15425.
