Connellsville woman pleads no contest in child sex case
A Connellsville woman pleaded no contest to allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old boy.
On Wednesday, Crystal Shannon Shroyer, 33, pleaded no contest in a Fayette County courtroom on charges of statutory sexual assault and corrup-tion of a minor.
Police stated that Shroyer said she knew the alleged victim through other children, and admitted to having sex with him at a party she hosted at her Prospect Street home on March 6, 2015.
Fayette Assistant District Attorney J.W. Eddy told Senior Judge Gerald Solomon the commonwealth offered a plea deal of one to two years imprisonment.
Shroyer’s court-appointed attorney, Diane Zerega, said because statutory sexual assault is a felony and a Megan’s Law offense, Shroyer will be evaluated to be determined to meet the criteria of a violent sexual predator.
The results of the evaluation will be considered for Shroyer’s sentencing hearing, which will be set at a later date.
Shroyer is free on $10,000 bond.
