Donora man assaults woman in argument over politics

A Donora man is in jail after allegedly assaulting a woman over a dispute over politics.

Matthew Pugh, 27 of Donora is being charged for criminal assault, attempted criminal homicide, and recklessly endangering another person after witnesses say he threw a chair at a woman during a disagreement over the recent presidential election, inside a Donora Highrise Nov. 20 at 5:03 p.m.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Pugh became enraged during the discussion and picked up a chair and allegedly struck Maureen Zubrick in the head, knocking her to the ground, with a bleeding gash to her head.

Police said Zubrick was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for medical treatment and Pugh was also taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for a mental evaluation. 

Pugh is currently being held in Washington County Prison in lou of a $50,000.00 bound.
